A tragic motorcycle accident on June 2, 2025, has claimed the life of Christopher Melchert, a 57-year-old tattoo artist deeply rooted in Kansas City’s creative and motorcycle communities.

The crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 24 at Waterloo Road in Lafayette County, Missouri. Melchert was traveling westbound on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a Ford F-250 pickup truck reportedly attempted to cross the highway and entered his lane, resulting in a devastating collision.

Emergency responders transported Melchert to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Investigation Status

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, with support from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. As of June 5, no citations or charges have been filed, and no detailed findings about fault or contributing factors have been released publicly.
